Saturday 3 July at 5-7pm.

Philosophy Over Pizza is a popular Explorers get together for older kids, now running twice each term. If you haven't tried it before, come and give it a go. This is a great opportunity to meet regularly with other curious minds and make social connections.

The two groups running at this session are:

Senior POP (age guide 12+) and Structured POP (age guide 9+)

Senior POP is aimed at older students who want to do more than just hang out on a Saturday evening. These sessions are very social and free flowing (parents tend to leave the group to their discussions).

Our senior facilitator, Daniel Haig, recently graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Sociology. Daniel spent the majority of his degree focusing on issues of class and the imagining and fight for fair economic and social relations.

Daniel wants to foster independent thinking in young people through philosophy and knows how to question to encourage deep thinking. He is currently working with at-risk students at Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu. Daniel is looking forward to meeting you and seeing where the discussion leads!

Structured POP is facilitated by volunteer Explorers parents/educators and parents are welcome to listen in or leave the group to their discussions. The structured session will open the door on philosophy and show Explorers what it is all about. The Explorers in this session will consider useful ideas from known philosophers and start asking questions of their own. We will enjoy an hour or so of philosophical discussion followed by construction or board games.

All this and pizza too!

Parents are asked to please stay on site during the session or nominate an attending adult to be responsible for their child. Tea and coffee will be available, as this is a great opportunity to meet other parents.
