The program is still being finalised and will be dependent on numbers. For the cost we get 3 paid instructors for the day to run activities. With adult volunteer helpers we can run extra stations (ideally 4 adults per hour on 4 stations so we can run 7 activities at a time). To keep families together however we can have a free play session for the kids in the gym with adult supervision while parents from each group are trained and then run 5 activities over the day.
This day camp is entirely self catered. This gives you the flexibility to cater for any dietary needs within your budget.
The camp has a wide range of activities - we will be divided in to groups of 10-12. If you have a preference of another family you wish to be grouped with let us know. We will do one hour rotations on up to 7 activities; given preference of parents wanting to stay with their family group and time limit of the facility for training this may be limited to 5. The timetable is dependent on the number of people we have booked. Current suggestions include: Archery, Flying Fox, Kayaking, Air Rifles and Raft Building. These are subject to change and availability and a more definite timetable will be available once booking numbers confirmed.
It is hoped that every group can include a minimum of one supervising adult that can volunteer to man an activity station for part of the day. Everyone is responsible for bringing enough water for their groups. we advise sunscreen, hats, wet weather gear, towels, togs and a change of clothes to cater for all eventualities.
If you really want to attend, but feel you cannot pay the full day camp fee please email president@explorers.org.nz and additional subsidies may be considered on a case by case basis. Please note the full day camp cost is $52 per person so Explorers is already subsidising this event.
