Hi there, I want to join the NZAGC so I have access to the library, magazine and just am kept up to date with events etc. I don't understand which would be best to join - the National Association, or the Wellington branch - even though I've looked both up, I'm not sure I understand the difference (obviously my son is the gifted one, not me) :) Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks very much
You can join either NZAGC - this is the national body and members are entitled to borrow books from the library and will receive the Tall Poppies mag 3 times a year. Or you can join BOTH the branch and the NZAGC. The branch will give you opportunities to meet other members and join in whatever activities that particular branch offers. You cannot join just the branch alone.
Hi Rebecca - in Auckland I thought if you joined the local Explorers Branch you were automatically a member of NZAGC or maybe it is the other way around, i.e. if you join NZAGC you are automaticall a member of Explorers.
Just checking. I wonder what I am a member of!!!!!
I know you can be a member of both or just NZAGC. However you can't just be a member of Explorers. Many schools and professionals choose to be members of just NZAGC - the Tall Poppies is a popular mag. However for family members, Explorers is also a great option - especially when they want to join in local events.
