Hello New Zealand!
I am forwading some information about a program here in Manitoba, Canada that offers a six-week (in-house) program for scientifically gifted high school students (Grade 10-12). The program provides placement for students on research projects with professional scientists. Students benefit by learning the process and requirements of working as a scientist for the summer, collecting and analyzing data, writing a scientific report and delivering an oral presentation of the findings of the study. Students earn 2 grade 12 credits for successful completionof the program. These credits are issues from the Manitoba Department of Education, with a description of the course curriculum and criteria under which the credits are issued. This document is available to educators who can determine the equivilent transfer to the country of origin of the student participant. The Manitoba Science Academy welcomes international students. The overall experience will prepare the student for post-secondary education in science and engineering and familiarize them with residence living. The MSA also provides a comprehensive recreational component, so that student participants enjoy the fun and adventure of the Canadian wilderness.
