Can't tell you exact costs, but psych assessments are generally in the $400-600 range. Testing for entry to ODS is around $225, but this is not a full-scale assessment and the intention to enrol at ODS if the child tests in the gifted range must be genuine. You can sometimes have assessments done through the Health Service if there are concerns related to delayed development, but this is rare.
Most ed psychs will test children from around 4 yrs of age. ODS assessments occur from around 5 1/2-6 yrs and up.
We used Shirley Taylor, who was very good with our daughter. It cost $300 for the assessment (SB5) and written report.
Whoever you get, ask them at the time how long it will be before you get the report. We've had two different assessments done with two different ed psychs and both times the results arrived 3+ weeks afterwards. I just about wore out the hinges on the mailbox! Knowing beforehand would help.

We used Susan Hunt who is totally fantastic, has great ways of getting the children to cooperate. A friend of mine used Shirley Taylor and they were also very pleased with her :-)
We also found the reports very helpful with School.
Yes, we have used Shirley Taylor a number of times , both for assessment and advocacy. We have found her to be excellent! She has a nice quiet way about her , is knowledgeable and very caring.
We have also asked her to come into school for IEP meetings and have found her to be very good for that too. I would highly recommend her.
