My DD is in Yr 7 in an "enrichment/extension" class at an intermediate. Recently out of the blue a reliever gave them what she called an "IQ test". It only involved 15 questions and then there was some formula using their age (only in whole years, so my daughter rightly pointed out that she had an advantage becuse she is coming up to her birthday and some kids in the class have just had theirs) to calculate an "IQ". From what I know of "real" IQ tests this sounds like rubbish and I am a bit peeved with the teacher as of course now the kids are talking and comparing and saying "this is my IQ" which I don't actually think is a good thing, especially if it is not a proper test. Does anyone know what this "test" was likely to have been? I am wondering if the teacher just got it off the internet.
Crikey I would be peeved too - sounds very much like it would be off the internet as only Registered Pyschologists etc are legally allowed to administer IQ tests!! Or even have access to them, and they certainly aren't 15 questions only.

I have had a clarification from the class teacher of the context this was presented in which means it was not as odd as my Daughter made it sound. Presnted as a fun thing in the context of a discussion about IQ, EQ and Multiple Intelligences. Alarm over.

Just to clarify you do not need to be a registered psychologist to administer the assessments/access them. Have included level D registration for comparison. Im working toward level C registration myself.
Level C
Indicates tests and measures available to users who have successfully completed advanced courses in the uses of tests and who have had, or are acquiring casework or clinical experience, e.g.,
individual intelligence tests
attitude inventories
personality inventories and scales.
Level D
Indicates clinical and diagnostic measures available only to users who have undertaken special post-graduate training in psychology or educational psychology, or equivalent on-the-job or in-service advanced training and experience, e.g.,
