 Earliest age for testing?

Hiya,

Our boy is about to turn 2.5. He's been properly reading for six months, and likes to rhyme, make up new words, and play tricks on people... lots of fun! Language seems to be his thing.

In anycase he LOVES books but recently started pretending that he can't read anymore. We still do lots of reading with him, but have backed off from encouraging him to read the stories. I guess like a lot of people coming to this for the first time we're worried we might not be handling things right.

Is there any value in having a young child tested? Is it even possible? I'm thinking not, but wanted other opinions.

Our local Montessori has agreed to have him join their preschool class from 2.5 so that will help. I just found this site tonight, and am relieved.

Many many thanks!
Andy
