I'm stuck....my son is 8 years old and was tested as being 2E a couple of years ago. He has really struggled with his school work and for the past 2 years has been working with a SPELD tutor. His self esteem is soooo low. He now doesnt want to go to school, he is given tasks in class and wont do them because he doesnt understand. He is too embarassed to ask for help from his teacher or his peers as he just doesnt want to stand out but as he doesnt do the work he gets in trouble. I have had many discussions with the SENCO, RTLB and his classroom teacher and together we created an IEP however I dont believe this is followed. I believe the school just see him as a problem child and lazy. It breaks my heart that he is struggling so much and I dont know how to help. I am wondering if I should change schools? He currently attends Mission Heights Primary at the back of Botany Downs. Or do I leave him there and have another chat with the teacher or do I look at other schooling options?
