 Transition

The next edition of Tall Poppies will feature 'Ask an Expert' with Gay Gallagher.

Gay is a highly regarded educational psychologist with a particular interest in transition. This may be the transition of gifted pre-schoolers to primary school, intermediate, high, university, or between year levels.

With my own children, because they attended a primary school with composite classes, this had its own issues with some of the transitions being very unsettling.

I wonder what experiences you've had? If you have any questions at all that you would like to put to Gay about transition, please could you email these to me at tallpoppies@giftedchildren.org.nz

Please rest assured that all information is treated confidentially, and names are not published in the magazine.

I should add that questions can also be asked over the forum if preferable.
Thanks, Claire

She's welcome to use my son's experiences (just look up my old posts). He did a trial in a composite higher class before commencing primary school and started at 5 in Y1/2 composite. School and home both happy as the trial had proven it was likely to work. It did.
