I took my son out of school since term 4 of last year (aged 11), he had been homeschooled once before, then back to regular school for a disastrous couple of years.
When I took him out, the school reports showed the previous above national standards kid was now struggling, the bullying was getting worse, he was now feeling so bad about himself he would hit himself on the head and bite his hand with frustration at the way he was being treated, he was more prone to disengage and seek comfort in his imaginary world.
Since home he gets his work done by lunchtime without issue, he is happy, no negative self talk, no self injury. He writes his own scripts and makes his own stop motion animation movies, his art is amazing, and now as of yesterday he has started to compose his own music on our keyboard for the soundtrack to his movies (has never had any keyboard lessons, plays by ear), I marvelled at how by leaving him to be who he is how he can show how extraordinary he is. He is interesting and interested.
The best decision to get him home! Watch out world, here he comes.
