I noticed in one of the other posts that some parents may be interested in a science club for their child. I am an ex-science teacher, and am now home educating my gifted 12 year old and his younger brother and I run science courses for home educators. I am a member of NZAGC.
One of the services I offer is to provide session ideas for starting your own local science club for 7-12 year olds. You can hire kits with all the equipment needed to run a session. See http://www.science-for-home-educators.co.nz/LocalScienceClubs.html for more information. I have only just started this service and there will be more kits added.
Although this service is aimed at home educators it may be beneficial for younger gifted children. Also, I am more than happy to extend membership to our science hire kits scheme to members of NZAGC.
I live in Katikati in the Bay of Plenty. The laboratory courses are run in Auckland and early next year also in Christchurch and Dunedin. I am working on Wellington as well.
The science hire kits and science club session kits can be sent anywhere in New Zealand.
I am the secretary of a support group of parents and teachers of gifted children in Dunedin. Could you give me some more info about the Dunedin lab courses? It would be great to pass this on to our members (we are affiliated to NZAGC).

Hi, I just read your post from a few years ago and wondered if you knew of any science clubs in Auckland for 8 plus years? My daughter has recently been assessed as Gifted and I am trying to find some extension for her. Any ideas would be gratefully received.
