Lynn Berresford, Registered Psychologist, with a particular interest in gifted children and years!! of experience, has asked me to let the forum know that she is doing a trip to Christchurch and Dunedin from Wed 22nd June to Tuesday 28th June. She will be speaking at a couple of parent evenings and doing some PD for RTLB teachers, but would have time for a limited number of assessments. Charge is $100 per hour (plus GST) and 3 hours are needed for a 'gifted' assessment and 4 hours for an assessment that needs an intervention programme.

I have a 5yr old girl who I have been told by her preschool teachers they think she is gifted and has the reading ability of and 8yr old. She has been at school for two weeks and is well beyond her peers. I would love to have her assessed but we are out of Christchurch on your visiting dates. will you be returning for more assesment appointments, or can you please advise of another registered pshycologist who can assess for the gfted.

I think that Lyn's visit was actually last year, (see date of initial posting) where she gave wonderfully informative seminars.
Lyn's collegue, Justine Wilson also travels down to Christchurch to do assessments on a regular basis and CAGCY (Canterbury Association for Gifted Children & Youth) advertise that information to our members and those on 'our friends' mailing list as it becomes available!

I just stubbled across this threat of conversation.
I realise its more than a year old, but I really need help.
I am desperately trying to fine some help with my wee boy.
He is 7 years old and we are convienced he is gifted.
He is starting to have problems at school (boredness etc) and I get the impression that the school feels I am over reacting.
Is there somewhere in Dunedin or surrounding area's that I can take him too be tested.
I feel the school would take me more seriously if I had it in writing that he is gifted.

I am just wondering that if there was enough people, could we get you Rose to come down to Dunedin, thereby saving money by just transporting you rather than taking ourselves up there? Is that a possibility for 2008?
I have a 4yo with Aspergers but I feel he may be gifted as well, but I get blinded by his ASD so am interested in an assessment before he starts school.
